A small museum has many tasks to keep it engaging and interesting. The Fountain Inn Museum is interested in volunteers who like to support the mission of preserving history in our area, whether that be through physically helping, writing articles and blog posts, recruiting or hosting tour groups, helping or hosting our open house events, and supplying the talent it takes to help an organization thrive.Why Volunteer? Skills
While no specific qualifications are required, ideal volunteers possess a passion for history, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Previous experience in museum settings or knowledge of local history is a plus but not mandatory.
Time
Volunteers at the museum are sought on a flexible basis, offering opportunities spanning weekdays, evenings, and weekends year-round. Time commitments vary based on event type, project scale, and anticipated attendance, ranging from a few hours to more extensive involvement for special exhibits or events.

Types of Volunteers
Exhibit Volunteer Volunteers in this role will be responsible for tasks such as dismantling and installing photo galleries, carefully handling artifacts during the transition of temporary exhibits, and aiding in organizing exhibit spaces. Your contribution will directly contribute to the seamless presentation of our ever-evolving displays.
Event Volunteer During special events or bustling Main Street occasions, the Museum experiences heightened visitor attendance, prompting the need for additional assistance from volunteers. These volunteers play a crucial role in warmly greeting visitors and attending to minor tasks like restroom maintenance and visitor tallying, ensuring that museum staff can remain focused on their duties without interruption.
Board Member Board members play a vital role in guiding the organization towards achieving its mission and vision. They are responsible for strategic planning, governance, and ensuring financial sustainability. Additionally, board members actively engage in fundraising, advocacy efforts, and board development activities. Through their leadership and oversight, board members contribute to the success and impact of the organization within the community.
