    Preservation and Education

    Our free family-friendly tours and school group visits are designed to share this rich history with all ages, ensuring that the legacy of Fountain Inn lives on. Explore a captivating timeline, spanning from the Cherokee presence predating Fountain Inn to the era of early settlers, agriculture, schools, and businesses. Discover the lives and legacies of influential figures like Robert Quillen, 'Peg Leg' Bates, Caroline Coleman, and Travelle Wharton.

     

    In addition to our immersive tours, we proudly host the 'Hooked on History' series, featuring engaging talks by outside speakers who share their expertise on a variety of captivating topics. Together, these experiences ensure that the legacy of Fountain Inn not only endures but continues to thrive.

    Research Services

    Literature - The Fountain Inn Museum proudly houses a comprehensive collection of recently digitized Fountain Inn Tribunes, serving as invaluable references for research endeavors. Additionally, our curated selection of rare, out-of-print books, including 'History of Fountain Inn' by Caroline Coleman and B.C. Givens, offers a deeper insight into our heritage.

     

    Genealogy - As a new feature, our Genealogy Corner provides a dedicated space for building family trees and conducting ancestral research. Delve into your heritage with the resources and expertise available at the Fountain Inn Museum.

    Click on the Image to find the Drop Box folder where our current collection of newspaper files can be accessed.
    Our Digital Collection currently includes weekly newspapers from the year of 1911 and the years of 1929-1949. However, this feature is a work in progress and we hope to continue adding more!

    Using Adobe OCR technology, each newspaper is rendered into digital text, allowing readers to search for keywords in the document.

    Use the Ctrl+f key to open a searchbox allowing you to search for keywords such as family names, places, and events in Fountain Inn's history!
